When the Path Through the Atmosphere is Longer
‘When the Path Through the Atmosphere is Longer’ is a large scale work made of glass, fabric and metal composite, installed at SFO International Airport Terminal G. "When the Path Through the Atmosphere is Longer is inspired by the feeling of being suspended in time and space during long-haul air travel and seeing two sunrises or sunsets in the same day. The image is collaged from printed sari cloth – as a reference to diaspora that is rooted in Indian culture and suggests the movement of bodies. Included in the composition are depictions of the Arctic Tern, known for its long yearly migration, and the hummingbird, which is native to the Americas." This work was commission by the San Francisco Arts Commission and is part of their permanent collection. Printing and fabrication by Magnolia Editions and Lenehan Architectural Glass, 2021
