Telling Fortunes addressed the notion of the contemporary nomad, with cultural narratives of 2012 and the rapid transformation of the Bay Area in mind. I spent seven months working in the Silicon valley area, immersed in various aspects of its natural and cultural eco-systems, and produced source material through interviews and exploration. The exhibition included my first textile works; large scale prints on Indian silk and cotton., along with 2 hybrid films, a series of ink paintings and installed Listening Room - an installation of hybrid fruit trees, porch swing and an audio composed of interviews in an outdoor balcony space. The wall text was presented in English, Hindi, Spanish and Mandarin. Mike Maurillo composed the audio and performed live accompaniment during the Zero One Biennial Opening.
