IMAGINARY FORESTS

This body of work contemplates forests as places where questions of bio-diversity, survival, indigenous struggle and non-human agency are playing out. Through the process of calling in forests- both real and imagined, visions of future ecologies connect with histories of colonization and the lush internal spaces of desire, longing and the imagination. The paintings are composed with saturated pigment and sari cloth, which is printed with abstract patterns created from digital images of demonstrations for civil and environmental rights.
